Vershawn Ashanti Young is associate professor of African American Studies and English at the University of Kentucky. He is the author or editor of four books, including the recent co-authored monograph, Other People's English: Code Meshing, Code Switching and African American Literacy (Teachers College Press, Columbia University, 2013) and co-editor (with Frankie Condon) of "Anti-Racist Activism: Teaching Rhetoric and Writing," a recent special issue of ATD (Across the Disciplines: A Journal of Language, Learning, and Academic Writing). He is also the proud father of a new baby girl, Ari Zhah, to whom he dedicates all of his current work.
